A "greenhouse gas" is any gas suspected of contributing to the theorized runaway greenhouse effect. Opponents of greenhouse gas emissions support the Kyoto Protocol, a UN-backed treaty to regulate greenhouse gases.
The most important greenhouse gas is water vapor.
