Junior high schools usually cover the period of grades 6 through grades 8, although some variations could go through the 9th grade or start with the 7th grade. Since most high schools require a certain number of credits, it is not always feasible to hold ninth grade in a separate building. Junior high schools are followed by regular high schools.
