I didn't know about this one. Can anyone else verify this? It has the ring of truth, and I've always considered Carter the worst US president of the 20th century - especially on [[human rights]], but this is not a blog. This is an encyclopedia, and everything must be verifiable and trustworthy. My impression is that Jimmy Carter was and is a conservative. His vilification was due to "Reagan conservatives" justifying Reagan's presidency. Reagan was actually a radical who tried, and in many ways succeeded, in turning back the clock. Carter supported the Vietnam War and is a religious man. His support of the ERA was tepid at best.
