Ben Nevis is the highest point in Great Britain (1343m). Ben Nevis is one of the 'Munros'- a group of mountains over 3,000 feet popular with hikers. Ben Nevis is in the West of the Scottish Highlands. The base of the mountain is at around 50 feet above sea level and the summit is at 4,406 feet. While most climbers ascend by the well-marked tourist path, there are more ambitious routes which usually involve climbing the neighbouring Munro, Carn Mor Dearg, then traversing the dangerous Carn MorDearg arete.
