/* Feudalism had been successful in defending against Viking invasions */ Feudalism was a very effective system of defense, with friendly competition developing some superb warriors.
Really? I would argue that feudalism was useless at defending against Viking activity (Viking is a verb, by the way, not a noun.) The Norse took over most of England, parts of France and most of European Russia, and extirpated Christianity from most of the land they conquered. Feudalism only developed into a successful system 150-200 years after the power of the Norse faded away. --[[User:VTraynor|VTraynor]] 22:19, 8 October 2011 (EDT)
