The 2012 Republican Primary is the Republican Party's primary to decide who will run against Obama in the 2012 presidential election. Currently, there are four candidates in the running: RINO Mitt Romney, family values conservative Rick Santorum, conservative Newt Gingrich and libertarian Ron Paul. Right now Romney is ahead in most polls, but many Republicans hope a more conservative candidate will gain the nomination. Ultimately, the goal of the Republicans in 2012 is to defeat President Barack Obama.
