Christopher Barron is one of the leaders of GOProud, a socially liberal political organization that claims to represent homosexual conservatives yet appears to be nothing more than a group of gay liberal Republicans.
Barron previously served as the national political director for the Log Cabin Republicans, where was instrumental in the organization's September 2004 decision to not endorse President George W. Bush's re-election.[1] He later worked for Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the United States.[2] In a 2004 interview, Barron revealed that in 2003 he submitted a written testimonial praising Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards on a web site and that he supported Edwards' 1998 U.S. Senate campaign.[3]
He has endorsed Libertarian Party presidential candidate Gary Johnson for the 2012 U.S. presidential election.[4] Being a social liberal, in 2011 and 2012 Barron was vocal in his opposition to conservative presidential candidate Rick Santorum.[5][6][7][8][9] Other conservatives he has attacked include Jim DeMint, Jim Jordan and conservative lawyer Cleta Mitchell.[10]
