The Alhambra is a Moorish palace and fortress complex in Granada, Spain. It is one of the Spanish major tourist attractions regarded as an Islamic masterpiece of architecture. It was started during the mid 14th century. The Alhambra was so called because of its reddish walls (in Arabic, («qa'lat al-Hamra'» means Red Castle)... Charles V ordered the demolition of a part of the complex in order to build the palace which bears his name. [1] Since 1984 the Alhambra is included in the World Heritage List.
