Kyiv (Ukrainian: Київ, English: Kiev) is the capital of Ukraine. It was founded in the 5th century as a Slavic trading post. The mayor of Kyiv is Vitali Klitschko.
Religion
Kyiv is dominated by Russian Orthodox Church and is also called "Jerusalem of the East". It owns many churches and cathedrals like the St. Sophia’s Cathedral, the Vydubychi Monastery, the St. Nicolas Prytysko Church, the St. Nicholas’ Church, the St. Andrew’s Church, the Church of the Savior of the Berestovo and the All Saints’ Church.[1]
