Christopher Harper-Mercer

Christopher Sean Harper-Mercer was a young, mass murderer who conducted a mass shooting at Umpqua Community College (UCC) in Oregon on October 1, 2015.

Shooter

The shooter according to his own online description of himself was "not religious" and he didn't like "organized religion". He was also anti-Christian and asked his victims if they were a Christian and if they said yes, he shot them in the head, but if the person said no, he shot them in the leg. Harper- Mercer was British born, but he moved to the United States early as a child. He was a fan of the Irish Republican Army (IRA) and he was pro-Nazi. On a dating website profile, he described himself as "conservative, Republican."

The shooter was a 26-year-old social misfit. The Daily Mail describes him as "a friendless oddball who had frequent temper tantrums, no friends, wore cargo short and combat boots and screaming fights with his mother, say former neighbors".

Myspace

The shooter's Myspace listed two friends. One of them Mahmoud Ali Ehsani posted numerous pro-Islamic terrorist photos. A Ehsani photograph caption read,

“my brave soldiers keep on fighting for the liberation of Palestine against Israel. f*ck Israel. Kill the Jews. jews are the only infidels.”

Shooting

According to eyewitness accounts, the gunman deliberately singled out Christians for death. One of the victims recounted the shooter instructing his victims to stand and asking them if they were Christians. Those who answered “yes,” were shot in the head. “If they said ‘other’ or didn’t answer, they were shot elsewhere in the body, usually the leg.” A similar report came from a student who saw the shooting.

Reactions

Barack Obama

Immediately following the shooting, as usual Obama made made a public speech pushing for greater gun control. Always the narcissist during his twelve minute speech he mentioned himself 28 times or 2.33 times per minute then Obama released an exasperated image of himself. Though this response is not always the case, after a Muslim killed five military personal during July 2015 in Chattanooga or after a racist black homosexual who inspired Christopher Harper-Mercer killed a journalist and her camera man taping the incident Obama did not politicize the shooting by demanding stricter gun control rather commenting America is a racist nation.

Umpqua Community College bans guns on campus and in August a supposed universal background check law took effect.

Sheriff John Hanlin

Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin, in charge of the investigation, stated that new gun control laws would not stop school shootings. Immediately after his comments progressive media attacking the Sheriff.

Ron Ramsey

Tennessee's Lieutenant Governor and Speaker of the State Senate stated on Facebook:

The recent spike in mass shootings across the nation is truly troubling. Whether the perpetrators are motivated by aggressive secularism, jihadist extremism or racial supremacy, their targets remain the same: Christians and defenders of the West.

While this is not the time for widespread panic, it is a time to prepare. I would encourage my fellow Christians who are serious about their faith to think about getting a handgun carry permit. I have always believed that it is better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it.

Our enemies are armed. We must do likewise.

Mike Huckabee

Mike Huckabee stated,

"With few facts, Obama is quick to admittedly politicize this tragedy to advance his liberal, anti-gun agenda"

"For this president to make a political pronouncement is at best premature and at worst ignorantly inflammatory."

"We hardly know any of the details about this horrific tragedy - What is the motive? Does the shooter have a history of mental illness? Was this an act of terror?"

Obama can shamelessly try and exploit any tragedy he wants, but it's clear that gun free zones are sitting duck zones."

Huckabee noted Obama failed to comment on the singling out of Christians. Though in a hypothetical situation where Muslims were targeted by an atheist (Christians and Jews do not murder) Obama would likely have called America racist and "Islamophobic". “The president always wants to be defensive and tell us there is no such thing as Islamic terrorism. These aren’t religious people even though we all know they are. But when it seems that the target is a Christian, he conveniently just ignores it, denies it or just moves on to something else. I do think it is incredibly significant that there was a religious intent and motive in this shooter’s attitude.”

Local Community

The community have reacted sensibly, stocking up on guns to protect against another such shooting.
