'''George Grenville''' (1712 - 1770) was the King's chief minister (what is now called the [[Prime Minister]]) of [[Great Britain]] from 1763 until 1765. He felt that the [[Thirteen Colonies|thirteen American colonies]] were undertaxed relative to the military protection that they received, and began raising taxes with the Sugar Act of 1764 and the Currency Act of 1764. The latter made it illegal for colonies to issue paper money. Worst of all was the [[Stamp Act of 1765]], which set off a firestorm of American anger that led to the [[American Revolution]].
