Ronald Allen Hamilton, known as Ron Hamilton (born November 9, 1950),[1] is a Christian hymn writer, composer, singer, and voice actor. He owns Majesty Music, which created the Patch the Pirate adventure series designed to win children to Jesus Christ. Unexpectedly, Hamilton became known as "Patch the Pirate" because of the black eye patch which he first wore in 1978 after cancer claimed his left eye.

A native of Indiana, Hamilton learned as a child to play the guitar, the piano, and the trombone. He graduated from the fundamentalist Bob Jones University in Greenville in western South Carolina. His Patch the Pirate Adventures are broadcast on radio and are the third largest religious program geared toward children. For twenty-one years, he was music minister at Calvary Baptist Church, an Independent Baptist congregation in Simpsonville in Greenville County, South Carolina. In 2017, he announced that he has early onset dementia. His son-in-law and daughter, Adam and Megan Morgan, took over the management of Majesty Music. Hamiltion said that he will continue his work as long as he is able. He resides with his wife, Shelly, in Greenville, South Carolina.[2]

On Mother's Day 2013, the 34-year-old son of Ron and Shelly Hamilton, Jonathan Campbell Hamilton, was found dead lying on the street outside a parking garage in Greenville, South Carolina. He died of blunt force trauma to the head.[3]
