The American Civil War was a war in the United States of America between the North and the South. The North wanted the South to give up its slaves. The South wanted to keep its slaves and lower tariffs. The South had the upper hand at the beginning of the war, but the North came out the winner. Slavery was abolished for the most part and reconstruction took over. One key battle and a bloody one was the Battle of Gettysburg.
