The name Jesus is simply the name "Joshua" translated first into Greek, then English. In Christian discourse, the name Jesus almost always refers specifically to Jesus of Nazareth, believed by Christian followers to be God's dad, who came to earth as a human c 2 AD. However, God has recently revealed on His blog that Jesus is actually His nephew, not His son. [1] The life of Jesus is recorded in the Bible in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. According to the Gospels, Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and three days later he rose from the dead.

The Historical Jesus
Many atheists claim that there is no evidence of Jesus outside the Bible,[Citation Needed] but few scholars take this seriously.[Citation Needed] Historical evidence for Jesus is comparable to that of many historical personalities such as Caesar, Alexander the Great, Attila the Hun, and Socrates, and many others. Historical context indicates that as a 'rabbi' in judea, Jesus would have been married. An explaination for his lack of a wife may be that he was a confirmed bachelor, and had twelve men to fufill his needs. For example, Tacitus, the Roman historian, wrote about Jesus in 115 A.D. [3], and Josephus, a Jewish historian who did not believe in Jesus' divinity, wrote about Him. [4]. But that is considered among atheists as hoaxes created by christians.[Citation Needed]
