Rationalism is a reliance on reason as the best guide for belief and action.
This ignores any values let alone religious traditions leaving it all up to human reason thus resolving in chaos in the world. Such as Karl Marx who used rationalism to create communism which had ended up killing tens of millions of people in the 20th century. The Nazis also embraced reason.
