As of 2005 some correlation has been proposed[1] between the symbology of the mythos and both the Christian devil Satan and creation science in Christianity: in the stories the being Cthulhu corrupts creatures from God and turns their worship inward, on their own bodies, with horrific results[2]; furthermore, many of the tales in the mythos feature the triumph of the supernatural over established science[3].
