The Cult of Reason was set up during the French Revolution by French revolutionaries Herbert, Chaumette, and Cloots on November 10th, 1793 and abolished the worship of God in France, instead worshipping reason. During the strong waxing and waning of power positions during the revolution, the three fell out of favor during a sudden change and were quickly executed by Robespierre on March 24th, 1794, effectively ending the outlawing of religion in France.
