Charmander is a small, orange lizard with a flame on the tip of its tail; if this flame is doused, Charmander will die. It is listed as the first Pokémon in the National Pokédex order. It is the Fire-type Starter Pokémon of Pokémon Red and Blue Versions and its remakes, Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen Versions. Charmander evolves into Charmeleon at level 16 then into Charizard at level 36.

 

The name of Charmander is derived from the words "char" and "mander" (as in "salamander").
