A digital nomad is someone who constantly works remotely with the freedom to travel as desired, typically using a laptop that connects to the internet from anywhere.
It is estimated that the population of digital nomads has quadrupled in four years, reaching nearly 17 million as of 2023. Nearly half are in their 30s, and the total number of digital nomads worldwide is estimated to be more than 35 million.
There are hubs that attract digital nomads, such as Bankso, Bulgaria, where the Bansko Nomad Fest has grown into the largest annual gathering of digital nomads.[1] It held its fourth annual such conference in the summer of 2023.
