Thousands of years after that was written, despite immense advances in medicine and technology, these figures remain remarkably accurate.  The longest modern recorded life of a man is precisely 120 years (Shigechiyo Izumi), the average lifespan for a man is roughly 70 years, and the average for a good-living man is about 80 years.

Thousands of years after that was written, despite immense advances in medicine and technology, these figures remain remarkably accurate.  The longest modern recorded life of a man is precisely 120 years (Shigechiyo Izumi), which is disputed, while the longest undisputed longevity for a man is 116 years. The average lifespan for a man is roughly 70 years, and the average for a good-living man is about 80 years.

There is a disputed claim of one woman having lived to age 122, [[Jeanne Calment]], while the longest undisputed lifespan of any woman is 119 years.
