Engineer, who has an engineering degree. Usually a person trained and skilled in the design, construction, and use of engines or machines, or in any of various branches of engineering. In U. S. and in Canada the title of "Professional Engineer" and often also titles indicating a specific branch of engineering, such as "Civil Engineer" or "Mechanical Engineer" are restricted. In mainland Europe engineering is seen as comparable to other professions such as medicine and architecture.
