The '''Illuminati''' are a subversive [[Masonic]] organization, allegedly founded in [[Bavaria]], [[Germany]] by [[Adam Weishaupt]] in the 1700s. Their goal is to take over [[Europe]] (and the rest of the world) and establish a [[one-world government]], while abolishing [[religion]]. The name means "Enlightened Ones", and refers to their belief in super-human knowledge which makes them better-suited to rule the world than the "Normals".
The Illuminati's symbol, the [[Eye in the Pyramid]] appears on the back of the US one-[[Dollar]] bill, leading theorists to suspect some of the [[Founding Fathers]] of being Illuminati operatives or sympathizers. Many of the Founders were [[Masons]], so it's possible some of them could have been Illuminati initiates.
