The article linked from the breaking news [http://www.venturacountystar.com/news/2007/oct/24/school-districts-once-again-begin-spinning-their/] informs us that Japanese students consistently finish first or second in international achievement tests, apparently due to the rigorous curriculum of math, science, history and geography. The article says nothing about what the failure of American students has to do with [[atheism]]. Interestingly in [[Japan]], a country with no state religion, only 1% of the population is [[Christian]]. Perhaps the solution is to adopt [[Shinto]] or [[Buddhism]].
