Massachusetts is a state in the United States known for liberal politics, to the point that the term Massachusetts Liberal is in regular use by the media. Its senators are two of the most liberal men in the Senate: John Kerry (who unsuccessfully ran for President in 2004) and Ted Kennedy. Massachussetts is infamous for its legalization of same-sex marriage.
