A Nut can be: a crunchy food, technichely a [[fruit]], but eaten like a [[seed]], ([[salt]]ed). It's a good source of [[protein]], and is popular for [[vegans]] and non-vegans.

A '''nut''' is, technically, a type of dry [[fruit]] in which one or two [[seed]]s is contained, and the ovary wall hardens when the fruit matures, while the seeds remain unaffixed to the wall. Nuts are generally high in a variety of nutrients, notably protein and fat.

A nut is also a radical, [[zealot]]. A crazy person is "nutty"; "nuts" describes the insane or sometimes the overly enthusiastic. 

The term "nut" also describes an individual who is perceived as insane or over-[[zealot|zealous]].
