Mount Doom was large volcano in The Lord of the Rings. Its Elvish name is ‘Orodruin’ which means "fire-mountain" in Elvish. It was near the Dark Tower in the Land of Mordor. It was where the One Ring was made by Sauron, in the Cracks of Doom (‘Sammath Naur’) and it therefore is the only place that the Ring can be destroyed, so Frodo and Sam (his servant and friend) must take it there if they can.
