| + | I agree - it's specifically facing OUT, and was placed in the harbor that was the primary point of entry for immigrants of the time. It is explicitly a statement about immigration, and the fact that immigrants come to the U.S. seeking liberty. I propose deleting that sentence entirely; what's out of context is comparing something from a prior era to the country's current serious illegal immigration problems. I agree - it's specifically facing OUT, and was placed in the harbor that was the primary point of entry for immigrants of the time. It is explicitly a statement about immigration, and the fact that immigrants come to the U.S. seeking liberty. I propose deleting that sentence entirely; what's out of context is comparing something from a prior era to the country's current serious illegal immigration problems.
