The Nashville Predators are a hockey team based in Nashville, Tennessee. They are members of the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Predators were founded in 1998, although they have not gained a large following. The Predators were sold in late 2007 to a group of local merchants and residents of Nashville, after the sale of the team to Canadian Jim Balsillie, the co-CEO of Research in Motion (RIM) fell through. The Predators play at the Sommet Center.
