You have to read the above before making any more edits or comments to CP articles about China. The Communists confiscated food from the peasants; that is what caused the famines, more than any misguided policies. --Ed Poor Talk 14:59, 28 April 2008 (EDT)
- The article you link to uses the word "confiscate" exactly once, in regard to LAND confiscation, and its concluding paragraph states "[t]he famine was caused by the shortfall in food production but this was a result of the bad policies and centralization of power in the central government." In fact, the article you link to broadly supports the contention that poor economic policies resulted in famine.
