As for the homosexuality, what about the character James? He crossdresses regularly. I'm confused about why my edit was reverted. TrueClarity 17:54, 1 July 2008 (EDT)
- I've made a section below. --KevinM 17:58, 1 July 2008 (EDT)
Criticism section
| â | PokĂŠmon has drawn some criticism from family groups, who claim that its portrayals of psychic powers and homosexuality are a negative influence on children. In addition, the franchise depicts children as young as eight traveling around the country with little to no adult supervision, perhaps leading to an increased number of runaways. | â |
I'm not sure if the editor is serious or not (the Bill Clinton edit makes me doubt it a bit), but I'm giving it the benefit of doubt.
I removed the above section. My point-by-point thoughts:
- I can sorta-kinda see the "psychic powers" argument since some people were also up in arms about magic in Harry Potter.
- It's been a while since I watched Pokemon, but I have no memories of homosexuality being in it. Source, if you're serious.
- I also sorta-kinda see the "runaways" argument, but it's even weaker than the psychic-power one. Pokemon has been on for how many centuries now? If there was an increase in Pokemon-inspired runaway cases, there must be reliable sources mentioning them.
So, if the editor was serious, please give some sources instead of just handwaving that there might be something. --KevinM 17:58, 1 July 2008 (EDT)
