Eternal is a term used to describe that which is everlasting and has no end. As such, it does not apply to any tangible element in the physical universe which ultimately will end, but is usually used in relation to that which trascends the physical. God is usually seen as being eternal in that He has no beginning and no end and while human souls had a starting point, they are considered to be eternal as well in the Christian worldview.
