=== Earth free floating in space ===

The book of Job states that God "hangs the earth on nothing." This presaged the fact that space is in fact empty, which wasn't known until the dawn of the 20th century, when ether theory was disproved.  It also contrasts with pagan mythologies such as [[Atlas]] holding up the earth or the earth being supported by a giant turtle, as in ancient Hindu and native American myths.

===Beginning of the Universe===
  −
Contrary to many mythical cosmologies, the Bible asserts that the entire cosmos had a beginning, as told in Genesis.  This was considered unscientific for millenia, as scientists believed the universe was in a steady state, until the discovery of the [[redshift]] proved an expanding, and thus time-limited, universe and vindicated the Bible.  Genesis also states that God said "let there be light, and there was light," which is in perfect compliance with our latest scientific understanding of the universe's early moments, in which there was an enormous quantity of energy, especially light.
