A '''labor union''' or ''trade union'' is an organization formed for the purpose of collectively representing the interests of a group of workers.  In particular this can include collectively bargaining with [[employer]]s in order to agree rates of pay and other conditions of employment. Conservatives tolerate the right of workers to form unions but recoil when they become too liberal, too corrupt, or too authoritarian over their members. Liberals aggressively support them, and use their influence with labor leaders to force rank-and-file union members to support liberal causes and candidates financially, despite the fact that those members strongly and unequivocally oppose those causes and candidates.

There are two types of unions, private sector unions and public sector unions.  Private unions can be beneficial and overall do not hurt society.  However, public sector unions are killing society.  When a public sector union goes on strike, they are demanding more money from the taxpayer be put in their wallets and pensions, resulting in higher taxes.  The collective bargaining with public unions frequently is corrupt, especially with democrats.  What frequently happens is the union asks for more money and the democrat agrees, on the condition that a big portion of the "union dues" gets donated to his re-election campaign.  Then, if the democrat gets re-elected, the cycle of corruption starts over and keeps going until the democrat is voted out of office.
