Pancho Villa (1878-1921) was one of the most important generals in the Mexican Revolution. After a raid on New Mexico in 1915, President Wilson ordered a punitive expedition against Villa involving 6,000 US troops. Although Villa eluded capture, he never again regained the influence he previously enjoyed.
