Perhaps I'm just displaying some "conservative stupidity," here, but it seems to me like that most of these are just examples of human stupidity that happen to be practiced by liberals in these cases. Examples: Misunderstanding geology, drunk driving, sexual affairs, incorrectly operating a phone, getting facts wrong. People of all beliefs do these things. WadeW was actually correct. Superman as originally created did not fight for the American way, and was "drafted" into WW2 to help sales. Here is an interesting article (http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2010/09/03/comic-book-legends-revealed-276/) on the phrase "truth, Justice and the American way" that explains the origins of the term. In fact, Superman originally was a champion of the poor, usually fighting for the people against captains of industry, a theme that evolved into his rivalry with Lex Luthor.

I have heard that one of the early stories actually involves Superman rescuing all the residents of a housing project, and then leveling the Project in an attempt to make the Government rebuild it.
