563-483 BC, India: Hindu prince who founded Buddhism, known as "the Buddha," his teachings were written down 400 years after his death, taught 4 Noble Truths, 8-Fold Path.


Siddhartha Gautama (563-483 B.C.) founded Buddhism. His motivation was that he was so disturbed by seeing suffering in the old and sick people. On one occasion he even saw a corpse. Siddhartha meditated for a long time and when he came out of his meditation, he thought that he was an enlightened man
