Code of Hammurabi

The Code of Hammurabi was an elaborate code of law established by Hammurabi. The Code imposed harsh puishment of "an eye for an eye", and lower classes were punished more severely than higher classes. It mandated death for the person who bore false witness in court. The Cod was used for many hundred years.
