New York values refers to glaring difference between New York City and the rest of the nation as they look down their noses at fly-over country. Ted Cruz famously referred to it by saying, "But everyone understands that the values in New York City are socially liberal or pro-abortion or pro- gay-marriage, focus around money and the media...Not a lot of conservatives come out of Manhattan. Iâm just saying." [1] New York hasnât voted for a Republican president since 1984.

Mark Twain said in 1885, "âAll men in New York insult you--there seem to be no exceptions..." Governor Andrew Cuomo said in 2010 that people who are pro-traditional marriage, pro-life, or pro-gun âhave no place in the state of New York.â
