A chip shop, or chipper, (shortened from fishânâchip shop) is a traditional British fast food establishment. The main speciality is deep fried battered fish such as Cod, Haddock and Plaice served with chipped potatoes. Other items such as pies and sausages (also usually battered and deep fried) are usually sold.
The most popular accompaniment are mushy peas, a mild and sweet curry sauce and baked beans.
The best fishânâchips are sold in the North of England especially in Lancashire and Yorkshire.
