Thomas Edison

Thomas Alva Edison was the inventor of the light bulb, motion pictures, and the phonograph. He lived in West Orange, New Jersey. He also invented the electric chair.
Together with Joseph Swan (who had received a patent for the electric lamp a year before Edison) he started the Edison & Swan United Electric Light Company. Edison was a contemporary of Nicolai Tesla and the two worked together for a brief time.
