John Forbes Kerry (born December 11, 1943) has been a Democratic member of the United States Senate from Massachusetts since 1984 and has consistently held one of the most liberal voting records in the Senate. In 2004, he received the Democratic presidential nomination and lost to President George W. Bush by a 51-48% margin in the country-wide popular vote.
