Internet

The Internet is a global network of interconnected smaller computer networks. Data is transmitted in small packets using the Internet Protocol (IP) where are then reassembled. It origionated in the work of DARPA, a research division of the US Army. America continues to retain administrative and technical control over the internet, although many forign powers - notably china - have annexed sections for their own use.
The Internet is sometimes also known as Cyberspace, the Web and the World Wide Web.
