L'Hôpital's Rule is a technique used in calculus when a limit, when attempted to be solved, only yields an indeterminate answer (defined further below). L'Hôpital's Rule states that

when

an indeterminate form

and when

exists.

In other words: the limit of the quotient of two functions is equal to the limit of the quotient of the derivatives of those functions.
