Phonics and NYC

Phonics and NYC concerns the dramatic switch in May 2023 of the largest school system in the United States -- New York City -- to learning how to read by phonics.

Phonics was advocated by Phyllis Schlafly beginning in the late 1950s, more than a half century ago.

This was prompted by how half of the schoolchildren in 2023 are unable to read at their grade level.
