Ride for the brand, or riding for the brand, was the code of the West "when cowboys were expected to do the bidding of the rancher who hired them."[1]

In the summer of 2022, political ads against Liz Cheney (R-WY) properly criticized her for not "riding for the brand," in light of her relentless unfair and biased campaign against Trump.

Riding for the brand

From a Western TV movie, which got the phrase slightly wrong ("with" rather than "for"):

“ Young Cowboy : You're a hard man, Conagher.

Conn Conagher : It's a hard country, kid.
Conn Conagher : ...any man who asks for help better not start out in the first place.
Conn Conagher : Tell me something, Chris. Where do you stand? Are you riding with the brand... or are you running scared?[2]
