Not to be confused with Terrell County, Texas.

Terrell is a city in Texas, on the far eastern edge of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Its major employer is Terrell State Hospital, a facility for those with mental illness, operated by the State of Texas. The hospital houses those who have been ordered by the civil courts (it does not house criminals who cannot stand for trial due to mental issues, or those found not guilty by reason of insanity).

The city is home to Southwestern Christian College, a private Christian, historically Black college, affiliated with the Church of Christ. In addition, a branch of Trinity Valley Community College is located in Terrell.

During World War II, the local airport was the site of the No. 1 British Flying Training School, a training facility for the British Royal Air Force. Many airmen who lost their lives in training accidents are buried in the local cemetery, and the airport houses a museum remembering and honoring those who trained there.

The city's most notable resident is Jamie Foxx, multiple Grammy-award winning actor, singer, and comedian. The performing arts center at the local high school is named for him.
