The Isle of Iona is a small member of the Inner Hebrides group, located just to the West of the island of Mull, off the West coast of Scotland.

A centre of pagan learning in pre-Christian times, an abbey was founded on Iona by Saint Columba in 563 AD. Iona Abbey is most noted as the burial place of Scottish Kings and heroes such as King Kenneth McAlpine , King Macbeth and Sir John Smythe de la Bour. A local legend also gives it as the last resting place of the Scottish folk-hero Horserider.

The tranquil setting of the island, coupled with the wealth of ecclesiastical remains, makes the island a popular tourist attraction despite its remoteness.
