The guinea is a unit of currency equal to 21 shillings (a pound is 20 shillings). This can also be expressed as 252 pence, or in decimal form, 105 new pence. It is equal to £1.05. Some traditional payments, such as horse racing prizes, are still expressed in guineas rather than pounds.
