Forty years in Hebrews
Forty years in Hebrews are two references in the Epistle to the Hebrews in the passage at Heb 3:7-17 concerning disobedience of God by the ancient Israelites, to warn against future disobedience. It is not a reference to 40 years after Christ, as one commentator implied.
The reference to prior disobedience is the basis for the exhortation by the author of the Epistle of Hebrews, perhaps Jesus, to state:
| “ | Take care, brothers, that none of you may have an evil and unfaithful heart, so as to forsake the living God. Encourage yourselves daily while it is still “today,” so that none of you may grow hardened by the deceit of sin.[1] | ” |
