Great Lakes basin is the region utilizing the Great Lakes. It consists of "two countries, eight states, one province, dozens of tribes and First Nations communities and hundreds of local municipal and regional governments. ... The drainage basin (or watershed) of a lake is the surrounding area, where runoff and base flow (from groundwater) flow into the lake."[1]
